Although I’m not a dedicated social media user, I find that what you are exposed to and affected by on social networks is really what you make of it. I personally am most affected by what I see on instagram, the only social media app I check once a day. I follow more artistic accounts, comedians, music news and other funny accounts just to get a laugh in throughout the day than random people I meet or influencers. I’ve built my feed to be a positive experience, and often find myself laughing or gaining inspiration from something when I’m scrolling through the app. Overall, I just casually look at the app for a laugh or to see cool things when I have the time and think to check it, so wouldn’t say that my lifestyle is really influenced by what I’m seeing on social media but believe that social media can be obsessive for a lot of people, which is why I encourage everyone to build a feed that’s enjoyable to them. It’s so easy to get caught up in what everyone is doing, wearing, seeing and everything else on apps like these, but is also just as easy to only see what’s enjoyable to you. I make a point to unfollow accounts and people that I never see or don’t find enjoyable to look at anymore which helps cut out all the unnecessary information and posts that I don’t care to see. Personally I’m a fan of social media and think that it’s a great resource in today’s world as long as you take a minute to think about what you’re following and how it affects you.
